Tempe, AZ – Over 500 military veterans from dozens of career education colleges and universities have joined Veterans for Career Education (VCE) to protect their right to use their earned GI Bill® benefit at the school of their choice. In three weeks, the “Let VETS Choose Tour” has hosted rallies at eight campuses in seven cities bringing together veterans who are students, graduates, or educators at career colleges. VCE has over twenty more stops planned for the tour over the summer with colleges in Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri all hosting rallies. VCE and the Tour were born out of a desire for veterans to respond directly to those that have challenge their ability to choose the type of school they want to attend.
“Everywhere we have been, men and women who served in uniform have expressed their full support for an organization that was created for veterans and by veterans – and that ultimately has veteran interests in mind. The support we have received from veterans in every city we have visited is outstanding. The message is clear to Congress: veterans have earned the right to choose the college of their choice,” said Steve Gonzalez, United States Marine Corps veteran and executive director of VCE.
